Leadership Award - Stacey Flanagan

Stacey Flanagan recently completed her role as Director of the City of Jersey City's Department of Health and Human Services under the Fulop Adminstration.

For more than 12 years, Stacey led an extensive portfolio of ten divisions, from Disease Prevention and Community Health to Veterans Affairs and Environmental Health, while also helping renew the City's commitment to Animal Welfare.

Before joining the city of jersey City, Stacey devoted her career to anti-hunger and poverty alleviation efforts, beginning her professional journey as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Costa Rica.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Stacey is deeply passionate about education, mentorship, and caring for others - including animals. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Michigan State University and a Master's degree in Nonprofit Management from The New School. She is currently completing her doctorate in Education at Saint Peter's University, where she also serves as a part-time faculty member. In her free time, Stacey Flanagan is a devoted and much-loved cat-sitter and is excited to begin fostering animals at the local shelter.

Stacey proudly embraces a rich cultural heritage. Her connection to Italian culture comes from her mother, Josephine, while her very Irish last name reflects her father, Joseph - a blend of traditions that has shaped both her values and her sense of community.
